Disconnect: A Reflection of Love, Responsibility, and Value

Three different stories, one common place - the internet. "Disconnect" is a powerful movie, which portrays three facets of normal life gone tremendously wrong because of how they behave on cyberspace.

One story talks about a reporter and how she enters into an engagement with a teen, who offers intimate pleasure on cyberspace, just to get an exclusive report regarding human trafficking; another story talks about a lonesome boy, who seeks understanding from a fraud but eventually caused him to cross beyond his personal limits; while the other story talks about a mother seeking for love, who gets herself into private conversations with a total stranger.

The common element among these three stories is love. Love in different form and how people want it. This kind of element led characters of this movie to become more attached with the internet and behave irresponsibly. And as consequences of their acts, they fell victims of destroyed relationships, exploitations, cyber bullying, and even suicidal attempt. The plot revolves from how these three lives were changed because of their irresponsible behaviors and how they dealt on it. At the end of the story, one element emerged - value.

We need to value everything we own in reality. We need to value relationships, we need to value friends, we need to value our future, and we need to value our self. Cyberspace is truly a complex place to meet people and be someone who we want to become. But the real world is still the world we need to cling on. Let's be responsible in everything we do in cyberspace because our personal life still needs to be protected. Let's not forget that the internet was made to deliver necessary information other than to expose our closet filled with dirty clothes. We may enjoy the internet all-day long, but we have to remember one thing: We need to disconnect.

I personally recommend this movie because it reflects us citizens of this world we call cyberspace. Try to put your 100% attention while watching this movie because it will definitely give you a realization you need to realize.
